History of the Malaysia Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce (MAPCC)
The Malaysia Asia Pacific Chamber of Commerce (MAPCC) was established in 2014 with the vision of promoting economic cooperation, trade, and investment between Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region.
Founded by a coalition of business leaders, industry experts, and policymakers, the Chamber was created to serve as a strategic platform for fostering cross-border collaboration and strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional business hub.
From its inception, MAPCC set out to provide vital support for businesses seeking to expand into Asia Pacific markets. Its founding members envisioned a dynamic organization that would facilitate networking, policy advocacy, market intelligence, and capacity building for enterprises of all sizes.
In its early years, MAPCC focused on building relationships with trade missions, embassies, and regional chambers across ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Strategic partnerships and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with various chambers of commerce and industry associations to promote mutual interests and collaboration.
VISION
To be the leading platform for economic cooperation and sustainable development across Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region, fostering a dynamic and inclusive business environment.
By 2018, MAPCC had grown its membership base significantly to 180 members representing diverse sectors including manufacturing, finance, technology, logistics, and services. It had also begun hosting high-impact events such as trade forums, business matching sessions, investment seminars, and policy roundtables.
The Chamber played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 by facilitating digital transformation for businesses, advocating for economic resilience policies, and organizing virtual trade delegations to maintain global connectivity.
Today, MAPCC continues to be a key driver of regional economic integration with 251 menbers across Malaysia. It serves as a trusted partner for businesses and governments alike, offering insights, access, and advocacy to help members navigate the dynamic Asia Pacific economic landscape.
